DECA Mission Statement
: The Diabetes Education and Camping Association promotes communication, provides education and serves as a worldwide voice to advance diabetes camping programs which meet the needs of all individuals and families.

Dear DECA Friends,

DECA’s new membership guidelines are now in effect and they require your assistance!  Please read the following and take the time to renew your membership for 2010.  Camp and Individual memberships are no longer free (except for prior Lifetime Members).

You will need to complete a Membership Application and pay your membership fee in order to receive 2010 benefits.

Camp members must join by the end of January in order to be included in:

  • Camp database for industry partners programs (diabetes supplies and education)
  • Online leadership training initiatives (“Leadership Essentials”)
  • Full access to website resources, camp assistance team and more

Individual and Camp Staff Members (whose membership comes with a Camp Membership) must complete a Membership Application in order to have:

  • Full access to website resources, camp assistance team and more

Here’s what you should do:

  1. Go to www.diabetescamps.org
  2. Review membership categories under “Membership” tab
  3. If you have not already done this, you must register to use the website by choosing a login name and password: on the Membership tab, click on “Member User Registration.”
  4. Fill out a new Membership Application under the Membership tab on the homepage of the website, choosing either Member Application (for Regular, Lifetime or Non-Member Staff) or Camp Application (for your Camp Directory listing).
  5. Pay your membership dues (you may pay online with credit card or send check).
  6. If you are a Camp Member and:
    • If your camp directory information was previously entered, it will be replaced on the website once your membership dues are paid.  You can edit at will.
    • If you have not already entered your camp directory information, you must enter your camp information under Camp Directory tab and then select, “add entry.” If you do not do this, you will not be included in the Industry Partners database and risk losing the donation of diabetes supplies.
    • You must also fill out an individual membership application and select “Non Member Staff” for yourself and then instruct everyone on your staff to do the same. There are no fees for non-members staff selections.

Thank you for your help with automating this important membership feature.  We stand ready to assist you.

Just email Kathy, Lorne or Shelley for assistance.
